Skin boosters are injectable treatments that use hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the skin that helps retain moisture. Regular dermal fillers primarily add volume or structure but skin boosters work differently. They hydrate the skin deeply, improve elasticity, and help to smooth the skin's surface, contributing to a refreshed appearance. The treatment involves administering small quantities of HA into the skin.

We have carefully selected Profhilo for our skin booster treatments from a wide choice. Profhilo contains a high concentration (one of the highest available) of hyaluronic acid and is recognised for its bioremodelling properties. It works by hydrating the skin and stimulating the production of collagen and elastin over a period of time. This aligns with our approach of both giving our patients the best, and also providing treatments that support the skin's natural processes for noticeable, yet subtle, results. Profhilo integrates into the tissue, offering hydration without adding significant volume, which makes it suitable for improving overall skin quality.

Skin boosters are generally suitable for adults who are noticing the early signs of ageing or who wish to improve their skin's hydration levels and texture. Ideal candidates are typically individuals looking for a non-surgical option to refresh their appearance naturally.
A consultation is necessary to determine if this treatment is appropriate for your specific skin type and concerns. During the consultation, your practitioner will assess your skin and discuss your medical history and expectations. This treatment is not suitable for individuals with certain allergies or active skin infections in the treatment area.
HOW IS THE TREATMENTADMINISTERED?
The treatment involves using a very fine needle to inject the skin boosters using one of two recommended techniques. We either use the grid technique or the BAP technique, which uses 5 bio-receptive points on the face. The idea is to create maximum diffusion of the skin booster. The treatment is recommended to be split over 2 sessions, 4 weeks apart. Patients are advised to repeat, with one session of the treatment every 6 months. This protocol is recommended for optimal results.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Profhilo is regarded as a very safe procedure and tends of only come minimal side effects, if any. As with all injectable treatments, mild redness at the injection points, settlign soon after. Slight bruising at the injection points is a possible side effect, although most patients experience minimal visible signs after the procedure. Since minimal recovery time is needed, you can typically return to your usual daily activities straight away.
THE TREATMENT STEPS
- Consultation - As with all treatments, your first step is a consultation with our doctor to discuss your skin goals and assess your suitability for treatment with a skin booster. A personalised treatment plan will be created.
- Procedure - The skin booster treatment involves injections at specific points on the face or other treatment areas ( neck or hands). The procedure itself usually takes around 30 minutes. Your treatment will involve minimal discomfort, though some patients report a brief stinging sensation at the injection sites.
- Sessions - Profhilo treatment typically involves two sessions spaced approximately 4 weeks apart. Some patients with more significant skin laxity may require a third session.
- Aftercare - Specific skin booster aftercare instructions will be provided. This will involve gentle care of the area.
- Results - Improvements in hydration may be noticed relatively soon, while the effects on collagen and elastin develop over several weeks. Results typically last up to 6 months. Maintenance sessions are usually advised every 6 months.
