The Nu-Derm System uses prescription-strength products to penetrate below the surface of your skin in order to transform skin cell functions at cellular level and correct damage. This gives fantastic results on reducing pigmentation, exfoliating old skin and leaving healthy, new skin that looks and acts younger and healthier.

It is important to use only Obagi Nu-Derm products prescribed by our doctor and to use only the specific dose and frequency recommended for your skin type and treatment concern.

You can expect to experience four phases as you undergo transformation to a more healthy and younger-looking appearance. The length of time between the phases will vary based upon multiple factors including age, skin type, amount of damage and compliance.

1) Initial phase – up to 6 weeks 

The damaged top layer of skin is replaced by a new layer of fresh, healthy skin cells. This process takes approximately 6 weeks. During this phase, you can expect freckles, age spots and dark patches begin to fade, redness and dryness. You may also notice exfoliation of the skin and flaking. Wrinkles and acne may look worse temporarily. These reactions are indications that the treatment is working. It is absolutely necessary to stay with the program to see these results.

2) Stimulation Phase - 6 to 12 weeks

You begin to notice significant improvements in your skin. New skin cells continue reaching the surface and the production of collagen and elastin increases. You can expect wrinkles begin to reduce, tightening of pores, further lightening of freckles, age spots and dark patches, subsiding redness and flaking

3) Regeneration - 12 to 18 weeks

In this phase, your friends will begin to notice your skin. Your skin will look and act younger and healthier. Your skin is firmer and more resilient with more even colour and tone. It is smooth and naturally hydrated giving you a healthy glow

4) Maintenance – 18 weeks +

To keep your skin looking and acting younger and healthier, it is advised to continue with a    maintenance protocol. With this you can expect to maintain healthier, younger-looking skin for a lifetime and prevent future damage. 

Typically, by about 6 weeks your skin tone and texture will improve, and the blemishes and age spots will lighten. However, it can take up to 18-20 weeks for optimum transformation results. We will monitor you every 2-3 weeks and adjust the doses, if required, to ensure you achieve optimum results. 

Some redness, dryness and flaking can be expected in the initial 4-6 weeks of using the Obagi Nu-Derm products. Other side effects are increased sensitivity to sun, blemishes or pigment changes.

8. TRETINOIN CREAM 

1) GENTLE CLEANSER – a soap-free cleanser for all skin types, especially sensitive and dry skin or 

FOAMING GEL for oily to normal skin types, thoroughly cleans away impurities and make-up.

2) TONER– uses a natural astringent that regulates the skin’s PH in order to make it more open to hydroquinone penetration.

3) CLEAR – its main active ingredient is 4% hydroquinone; it blocks the production of melanin, thus reducing hyperpigmentation.

4) EXFODERM – its main active ingredient is a mild acid called phytic acid – it makes normal to dry skin peel even further or

EXFODERM FORTE – another exfoliating product based on AHA’s – glycolic and lactic acids; it’s designed to increase penetration of hydroquinone in normal to oily skin.

5) BLENDER – gold standard ingredient 4% hydroquinone and is mixed with a tretinoin-based cream to control melanin in the dermis and reduce hyperpigmentation. 

6) HYDRATE– non occlusive, non comodegenic hydrator, which retains moisture for up to 8 hours. 

7) SUN SHIELD MATTE SPF50 – broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection.

8) TRETINOIN – increases cell turnover and accelerates healing. 

There are two different systems: normal-dry and normal-oily. The normal-dry contains gentle cleanser and exfoderm, whereas the normal-oily system contains foaming gel cleanser and exfoderm forte. The rest of the products are the same. 

Most people are suitable, however this will depend on your skin, your medical history and skin concern. Suitability will be determined by our doctor after a consultation. 

Once the Nuderm skin regime is completed and the skin concern is successfully treated, we advise using some of the Obagi products for maintenance. 

The small starter kit costs £340 which includes tretinoin. This will last approximately 8 weeks. 

The larger kit costs £550 which also includes tretinoin. This will last approximately 16 weeks. Two of the products will need to be replaced later on in the regime, which will be discussed in the consultation. 

The price includes a review with our doctor every 2 weeks or when needed. We also provide telephone advice 7 days a week, if required. 

The products containing active ingredients cannot be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, however some of the other products can be used. We can form a bespoke skin regime with specific products that are safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. 

You will require a consultation with our doctor to discuss your skin concerns. If you are deemed suitable for the treatment, our doctor can then prescribe the regime and products can be delivered directly to you within 1-2 working days.
